Caztek Engineering announces expanded machine shop capabilities
2 February 2012, Saint Paul, MN-Caztek Engineering has just completed the expansion of the Lowertown Saint Paul facility. An additional 1,000 square feet of space has been added to the existing office space. “We spent the holidays converting a corner of warehouse space into a fully functioning, expanded machine shop. This area will house both a City Cycle building bay and our prototype and machining area,” announced Casimir Sienkiewicz.
The additional space hosts a new Haas “VF-2 SS” CNC milling machine with a work envelope of 30″ x 16″ x 20″ in the x, y, and z axis respectively. With a 40 hp spindle capable of 12,000 rpm for the intricate and small features of modern tooling, this very capable machine is suited to the wide variety of work that comes through the machine shop. Coupled with CAMWorks software, a full 4th axis and highly skilled machinists, the VF-2 gives us the capability to mill parts with close tolerances and complex shapes and setups in a quantity of one or one thousand.
Along with the Haas milling machine, Caztek added two engine lathes to the machine shop.
