 Senior Engineering Project Manager

FULL-TIME ROLE

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, acting as a primary liaison with clients, managing project costs and schedules, and ensuring compliance with financial and contractual requirements. This role supports Caztek engineering team with detailed and structured project management. The role also supports the accounting team with financial reporting, including indirect labor costing and budget management. The role ensures successful execution of both government and commercial engineering and manufacturing projects.

 

The ideal candidate possesses a broad engineering background, project management expertise, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional team of engineers in design, manufacturing and quality while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract terms. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Project & Program Management 

  • Oversee the execution of engineering and manufacturing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with client requirements and business objectives. 

  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders. 

  • Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time completion. 

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring continuous alignment with scope, budget, and performance metrics. 

  • Ensure compliance with government contract requirements, including design, engineering, documentation, quality, manufacturing and programmatic deliverables. 

  • Develop systems, policies and procedures to streamline and clarify the project management process throughout the organization. 

  • Seek out and advocate for programs in alignment with the company’s growing expertise. Advise business development team and take an active role in developing proposals for new programs.

Financial Oversight & Compliance 

  • Develop and monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective resource allocation. 

  • Prepare financial reports, analyze indirect labor costs, and ensure compliance with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and other government regulations. 

  • Support cost accounting and reporting for both government and non-government engineering projects.

  • Assist in pricing strategies, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to optimize profitability and operational efficiency. 

  • Ensure compliance with government contract requirements, including cost structures, billing, and financial audits.

Team Leadership & Collaboration 

  • Provide oversight and guidance to engineering teams, ensuring project goals and deliverables align with business objectives. 

  • Work closely with program managers, finance teams, and executives to drive operational and financial efficiency. 

  • Oversee vendor and subcontractor selection and contract negotiation for project needs. 

  • Ensure proper allocation of resources and staffing for engineering and manufacturing projects.

Performance Analysis & Process Improvement 

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success and financial performance. 

  • Recommend process improvements to enhance project execution, cost efficiency, and compliance. 

  • Implement best practices in project finance, contract administration, and risk management.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Required

  • Engineering Program Managers are responsible for leading all phases of the program life cycle from inception (proposal development) through startup, execution, and completion (contract closeout). Primary responsibilities are the management of engineering deliverables, cost, schedule, and manufacturing performance of company programs. 


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field 

​

Experience

  • 3-5 years in engineering, engineering management, program management, engineering finance, or project control within an engineering or manufacturing environment. 

  • Demonstrated success in complex, detail orientated projects. 

  • Knowledge of indirect labor costing, financial planning, and contract compliance. 

​

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in engineering and manufacturing, financial modeling, budgeting, and cost tracking (MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word). 

  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and project cost control methodologies. 

  • Expert ability to manage detailed schedule in MS Project 

  • Expert ability to create and manage excel spreadsheets with formulas

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions

Preferred Certifications

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PMP (Program Management Professional) 

  • Lean Six Sigma or process improvement certifications

​

QMS Training Needs

  • Defined by F023 Training Matrix and Log and P016 Onboarding, Training, Performance Review Procedure.​
